Our Daily Meds by Melody Petersen

I have to say that I had my trepidations about this book when I picked it up. I had passed by it during my last 4 bookstore visits but I finally decided to give it a shot. I wasn't sure about the length and small print of it and I definitely wasn't sure if it was going to be interesting. Once I got started reading it though, I couldn't put the book down. I have never been so entertained/interested but also scared while reading a book as I was when I read this one. You learn so much about an industry that you deal with multiple times throughout your lifetime. It is scary all the things that the major players in the industry do that you are not aware of and all the things that the people who you put the most you in, your doctors, do as well. My only complaint is that I wish she would have included footnotes throughout the book. She does add references in the back of the book which have numbers corresponding to the pages in the book but I am just used to having the footnotes at the bottom of the page. The book is well written and at first it seems like the book doesn't have a set direction and is jumping all over the place but it eventually gains a pattern. The interesting thing about the book is that it is not only about the pharmaceutical industry but it also speaks about marketers and their power. It is a real eye opener. Overall, I would give this book an A-
